How algorithms are being used to deny health insurance claims in bulk

Federal data shows that health insurers denied more than 49 million claims in 2021, but fewer than 0.2 percent of customers appealed. Investigative journalists at ProPublica found that Cigna’s insurance company uses automated systems to assess, and often reject, claims in bulk. Reporter Maya Miller joins Ali Rogin to discuss the findings.
