Compulsory insurance for vehicles operating legally on the road. There are various companies in the insurance sector that offer this service. Many people who buy insurance for their vehicles often look up the premiums and IDV of their vehicles. Apart from these factors, it is actually quite important to pay attention to the percentage of settlement of claims. In the event of an accident, people often rely on insurance to repair their vehicle because they have already paid for it. Sometimes, insurance companies even refuse claims for various reasons. Here we have one incident where the insurance company denied a Tata Altroz owner’s claim for not having ‘Google timeline’ data.
The video was uploaded by Nikhil Rana on his YouTube channel. This video discusses the case of a Tata Altroz owner who had an accident. The car owner has taken insurance from a company called Magma HDI. It’s unclear whether he got it from a dealer or bought it online. The owner had crashed his Altroz hatchback behind another vehicle and several panels were damaged. The hood was completely damaged and the headlamp on the left side and the bumper were damaged. In addition, the car also suffered minor dents and scratches elsewhere.
The owner was completely unharmed in the accident. The owner decided to get his car repaired from an authorized service center and claim insurance so he doesn’t cover all the costs. He started the process of claiming the insurance and when a surveyor from the insurance company came to inspect the vehicle, he asked for the owner’s google timeline location. To this the owner replied that he never used GPS and Google timeline was not available on his phone not only for that day but for any day. After inspecting the vehicle, the surveyor told him he could not approve the claim because no Google timeline was available.
The owner of Tata Altroz has hidden his location history and he also told surveyors the same. The surveyor rejected Altroz’s owner’s claim. The owner then posted the whole incident online and got interesting responses from other users. Many of them ask people not to go to such new insurance companies. It is always a good idea to check the claim settlement scores of these companies before buying insurance. Many of these companies try to delay or rather deny claims by showing some clauses that went unnoticed in the insurance documents. If the person driving the car does not have a smartphone, he will also encounter similar problems and is completely unacceptable for customers who have paid for insurance. In fact, many of them are asking the owner to file a lawsuit in consumer court against the insurance company for rejecting the claim. We have come across incidents in the past where owners deliberately damaged their vehicles to get their cars repaired under insurance.
