What Kevin Durant To Celtics Trade Rumors Signal About Motives For Involved Parties
For now he has rejected your professional request. He will return to the Brooklyn Nets to start the season.
Rumors of Durant’s possible departure from the Nets began when the franchise declined to offer Kyrie Irving a long-term, max contract. Instead, Irving opted out of the final year of his $36 million deal with Brooklyn. Durant asked the Nets for a trade because they wouldn’t give Irving the contract he was looking for, according to Adrian Wojnarowski.
The Nets were overwhelming championship favorites entering last season. After Irving was unavailable for most of the year after refusing to take a Covid vaccine, James Harden demanded a trade and was sent to the Philadelphia 76ers, with Joe Harris suffering a season-ending injury and the Nets, along with Durant and Irving. Floor — Was swept in the first round by the Boston Celtics.
Brooklyn essentially owes all of its future draft picks to the Houston Rockets thanks to the original Harden trade, so don’t expect the Nets to completely rebuild in this deal.

Recently, a new team has shown interest in Durant: the Memphis Grizzlies, league sources tell The Athletic. After a 56-win season, the Grizzlies have made more inquiries to the Nets about Durant, the sources added. Memphis has five first-round picks available to use in the trade (four of its own unprotected picks and one protected by Golden State in 2024) as well as young players such as Jaren Jackson Jr., Desmond Benn, Ziaray Williams, Brandon Clark, Kennedy Chandler and David Roddy.
Shams writes: “The Grizzlies, so far, are not inclined to include Jackson or Benn in a potential offer for Durant, sources said, but instead a package built around their pool of draft picks.”
Similarly, the Phoenix Suns have put together a package around all-defensive wing Mikal Bridges and a handful of first-round picks, which the Nets have not met, league sources said. Shams: Durant reiterates trade request and gives Nets ultimatum

The proposal was rejected and Brooklyn has asked Boston to include Brown, Defensive Player of the Year Marcus Smart, draft picks and potentially one more rotation player in any proposal, the sources added. The Celtics are currently less inclined to include Smart along with several other players or draft assets, but the franchise is mulling the next steps in how to approach the discussion. No deal is imminent for Durant, and as August and then September roll around, the real desire of interested teams will become clear to the Nets. Windhorst: Kevin Durant Trade After Signing Warriors Contract ‘being Discussed’
“The Nets are really off the hook for what they’ve been offered, and if some of the trade packages that have been sent to me are correct, I agree with them. I think they should expect more from Kevin Durant at four-four. contract of the year. But other teams around the league don’t think the Nets have much leverage here with Durant still four years under his contract. And the offers they’re making reflect that belief.” Windhorst: No bidding war for Kevin Durant
ESPN’s Brian Windhorst says teams have made their trade offers for Kevin Durant and don’t feel obligated to extend him. Windhorst reports that Utah has no plans to trade Donovan Mitchell, the type of young star who could satisfy the Nets’ demands. Windhorst also said teams around the league thought the Gobert trade was overpaying and were unwilling to make a comparable offer for Durant.
The Wolves said no and eventually traded for Rudy Gobert. But if that’s Durant’s asking price, will he really move this summer?

Nba 2022: Kevin Durant Trade, Updates, Latest Reports, New Team, Brooklyn Nets, Kyrie Irving, Donovan Mitchell To Knicks
“The Lakers, I’m told, still have to be aggressive in trying to get a deal from Brooklyn to get [Kyrie]. That could come, that could develop over time. But so far, there’s no traction. A deal with Irving or Durant” ️ @wojespnpic.twitter.com/ZtoOaiViPD — ClutchPoints (@ClutchPointsApp) July 4, 2022
“And they don’t have to negotiate either,” Voge added. “They’re both under contract. They could bring them back to start the season. I don’t think that’s the ideal scenario for Brooklyn. I think they’re trying to find as many assets as possible, but again, there’s an off. There’s a lot of time left in the season and a lot of conversations to come.” Kevin Durant only wants to play for the Heat with Butler, Adebayo and Lowry
As for the possibility of Miami also being in play, I’m told that’s a major hurdle in that regard. It appears that Durant will only want to play on a Heat team that includes Jimmy Butler, Bam Adebayo and Kyle Lowry. So even if the Heat are willing to move Butler in a deal as a way to satisfy the Nets’ (understandably expensive) request, doing so would make Durant unhappy early on. Kevin Durant Reiterates Trade Request To Nets In Meeting
“Also, the Nets have no interest in getting Kyrie Irving. They have no interest in doing that. If it comes, maybe a three-team trade or a four-team trade to satisfy the Nets with what they want. Maybe give them a start. Draft from Phoenix Taking picks and diverting them elsewhere…Kyrie could be dumped as salary cap in this four-team trade. He’d be a tool to help the Nets. He wouldn’t be used. A player traded for value. It’s highly unlikely. is that you’re going to get anything of value. Maybe a draft pick or two. And he’s not going to settle. “He’s going to have to sit back and wait for the Durant situation to develop, whether it takes Three days or three weeks. And that’s just reality. But in the end, when all that smoke clears, it’s true that it could be lacquer. It’s definitely still on the table.” Kevin Durant trade timeline: “It could happen in the next few days. It may take two weeks.”
ESPN’s Brian Windhorst said a Durant trade is not imminent. He also said Nets owner Joe Tsai wants a team chasing 40 wins
“Billionaire owner Joe Tsai would rather have a hard-playing team that he’s proud to own, than win 40 games and fight for the play-ins with a team that has far more talent that he’s not proud to be a part of.” According to Windhorst. Watch the full video here
